Senior Electrical Engineer

Would you like to play a key role in providing credible electrical engineering governance within the Naval Base Services? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Electrical Engineer at our site in Portsmouth.

 

 

As a Senior Electrical Engineer, you will be providing detailed, credible electrical engineering governance through assessment, advice and assurance for all electrical & systems-based infrastructure under the Naval Base Services Directorate.

 

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Electrical Engineer will involve:

 

 

Offering advice, with the ability to explain effectively and write reports containing qualified recommendations to Directors.

 

Conducting design and phase reviews for electrical engineering and systems-based assets.

 

Leading analysis and research for business improvement

 

Developing concept designs and carry out detail design activities.

 

Authorising electrical engineering related processes, instructions and associated documents.

 

Providing professional engineering support, as part of the Chief Engineer's Department (CED), to assure engineering and Safety, Health and Environment (SHE) governance within Naval Base Services


Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

Have a comprehensive broad-based knowledge of electrical engineering and experience of its practical application

 

 

PC Literate, with good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel, Word, Project and Outlook and PowerPoint

 

Have a proven track record in working with HV and LV electrical distribution systems

 

Have a proven track record in working in accordance with Safe Systems of Work and Permit to Work procedures

 

Chartered engineer status or working towards or relevant experience

Desirable:

NEBOSH trained but not essential

Awareness of HAZID (Hazard Identification) tools, including Fault Tree Analysis

 

 

Understanding of BAE Systems processes and procedures or the Naval support environment

You will be a proactive individual with excellent problem-solving skills using both a logical and analytical approach, taking alternative and analytical solutions to issues.

 

 

You will also have excellent communication skills, allowing you to present to a range of stakeholders whilst having the ability to understand both strategic and detailed technical issues in order to do so.
