Are you an experienced engineer with excellent communication and influencing skills? 

UKAEA are currently seeking Engineering Analysts who have experience in one or more of the following areas:

1) Fusion Breeder Blanket Design
- Provides knowledgeable resource in the areas of design, manufacturing, and testing solutions development particularly for complex advanced systems exposed to harsh environments including radiation, high heat fluxes and corrosive materials. 
- Involve leading the research, prototyping and verification of design concepts, manufacturing and testing processes involving advanced technologies and materials. You will work with other departments and organisations and will be required to represent UKAEA at international forums and participate in conferences and meetings both in the UK and overseas.

2) Magnet System Analysis
- Supports Magnet Design activities including the structural, thermal and electro-magnetic magnetic modelling and analysis of high-performance magnet systems for fusion.
- The role holder will have extensive experience of finite element analysis principles in the above areas both individually and combined as a multi-physics analysis. To help support design decisions they will produce technical reports and ensure adherence to design standards

3) Senior Evaluator
- Organise the review of proposed designs and any accompanying analysis to define and measure analysis quality and compare relative technical risk. You will be experienced in performing structural and thermal engineering calculations to support design decisions and you will produce technical reports including selection of appropriate design standards and ensuring compliance to any relevant standards.

4) Design Codes
- Provides knowledge and leadership in working with and developing structural integrity design codes and criteria. You will be experienced in performing structural and thermal engineering calculations to support design decisions and they will produce technical reports and ensure adherence to design standards. This position carries a specific requirement to support the development of new design codes for the qualification of designs by FE Analysis.

UKAEA also works with industry and other third parties to develop new technologies currently in Remote Handling and Materials research. Following recent UK funding two new centres of excellence in tritium fuel handling and component testing and validation are being built. Knowledge skills and experience

Essential
- Demonstrated experience in implementation of specialist science/ engineering skills in R&D programmes

- Background or experience of multi-disciplinary R&D programmes

- Demonstrable ability to manage R&D work packages

- Ability to perform exploratory design calculations using first principles, with particular expertise in heat transfer. 

- Proven capability in engineering analysis and a good working knowledge of engineering materials and their properties at extremes of temperature.

- Experience of working with, and ideally developing, design codes and criteria

- Good working knowledge of structural and thermal engineering, solid mechanics and engineering materials

- Experience with relevant environmental factors such as high temperature environments, vacuum environments and transient magnetic fields

Desirable
- Leading teams and technical supervision of other staff

- Good communication and technical writing skills

- Excellent interpersonal skills.

Special requirements:
As part of your role you could be asked to work in radiation-controlled areas or in beryllium-controlled areas. Full training and medical assessments will be provided if this is necessary.

Selection Method:
- Initial interviews will be held via telephone or Skype during September 

- As part of the selection process you may be expected to complete work based simulation exercises and a personality profile either online or onsite.

PLEASE NOTE THE LEVEL 4 ROLE OFFERS A SALARY OF £33,441 - £37,579 AND THE LEVEL 5 ROLE OFFERS A SALARY OF £45,543 - £50,936. YOUR LEVEL WILL BE ASSESSED AT INTERVIEW.
