Push technology to its limits in unexpected ways.

About Dstl

We harness science and technology to protect our nation – bringing together the best people with the best ideas, and applying them in unexpected ways. Because we provide the UK government with specialist science and technology research, advice and analysis, what we do is often sensitive or international in nature. Much is operationally critical and has the potential to save many lives. All of it is incredible.

Together with other brilliant organisations around the country and abroad, we develop battle-winning technologies, and support UK operations now and into the future. Here, you’ll be part of a team who deliver high-risk, high-reward technical research to ensure the UK retains an operational advantage. We maintain the Sovereign UK Energetics capability, and provide a source of threat information. Put simply, this is work that you just can’t do anywhere else.

About the role

You’ll get involved in a wide range of projects to solve real problems, and deliver scientific, analytical, and engineering solutions. It’ll see you produce bespoke tools, models and techniques, work on field trials, and undertake laboratory testing. Not only that, you could support on electronic countermeasures and surveillance, sensing and detection, and energetics. That means getting involved in everything from military system development to dismantling munitions. Ultimately, it’s about being creative, chasing innovations, and pushing technology to its limits.

About you

We’re looking for talented graduates with degrees in one of the following: Electronic or Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Communications Engineering, Software Engineering, Engineering Mathematics, Mechanical Engineering, Computer Science, Mathematics, Physics, or Machine Intelligence. You’ll also bring relevant technical knowledge and experience, with an inquisitive, positive attitude.
