Manufacturing Production Manager

Would you like to deliver complex and critical operational outcomes within BAE Systems Aerospace Sector? Working within an organisation which is part of the World's Largest Defence Programme in its participation in the F-35 Lightning II programme. We currently have a vacancy for a Production Manager at our site in Samlesbury

 

 

As a Production Manager, you will be responsible for leading a large and diverse team delivering cutting edge products to a worldwide customer base, responsibilities/accountable include safety, cost, quality and delivery of aircraft components to plan on platforms such as F-35 Lightning II, Eurofighter Typhoon and Hawk

Your main responsibilities as a Production Manager will involve:

 

 

Leading an Integrated Product Team (IPT) to manufacture high tolerance cutting edge aircraft Components, Major Assemblies, Full Aircraft to programme schedule at the required Quality standard to a specific Cost budget

 

Creating a positive, inclusive, future-ready working environment in which everyone can give their best

 

Interfacing with the customer to ensure delivery to agreed requirements and service levels

Critical thinking and problem solving

Integrating and aligning the team against key objectives, linking to strategic business performance and recognising that good employee engagement is the foundation required to achieve a culture of a total performance

 

 

Using your judgement and experience to manage differing and sometimes conflicting priorities of the business

 

To build and maintain relationships with key stakeholders (external and internal) and manage customer's expectations through appropriate communications, reporting, assurance and governance.

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

Strong leadership competence e.g. decision making, communicating, motivating, selecting/developing people, taking proactive actions

 

 

Experience of a manufacturing environment, utilising systems, tools and structure to influence objective outcomes around Safety, Quality, Cost, Delivery and People

 

Experienced relationship management (such as Customer, Supplier etc.)

Ability to manage people on a day to day basis

Experience in production methodology, systems & toolsets and their use to deliver process improvement and reliability of business outputs

 

 

A proven track record of motivating and developing a team

 

Accountability for the team's performance and for compliance to standards and process

 

Line management of your team members, developing them and managing their performance

 

Communicating effectively on your team's successes and issues

Desirable:

Ability to analyse data or situations quickly

HNC or equivalent qualification or experience in Engineering/Operations Management

 

 

Previous experience of the delivery of complex and critical manufacturing operational outcomes that enable strong schedule and financial performance

You will also have excellent interpersonal and communication skills allowing you to influence and build good relationships with customers and suppliers. It will also be beneficial in this role to be well organised, innovative and able overcome any obstacles or conflicting priorities in the business.
