Performance Modelling Engineer - T26 Combat Systems

Would you like to opportunity to work within the Combat Systems Team? We currently have a vacancy for a Performance modelling Engineer at our site in Filton.


As a performance modelling engineer, you will be establishing and maintaining a description of selected performance aspects of the Type 26 Combat System. Focusing on developing assessment services that reduce the customer's exposure to pure model based design, programming, and time managing data for models, delivering services the customer needs to understand, design and analyse their system.



Your main responsibilities as a Performance Modelling Engineer will involve:


Testing and validating the new Performance Modelling Environment (PME) in order to gain a complete understanding of the PM&S toolset and capability.

Take responsibility of an area of the Combat System, which you will simulate using a varety of tools and methods, becoming the technical lead for simulation of this combat capability, including its interfaces with other areas of the Combat System which may ultimately contribute to its effectiveness at a whole ship or scenario level.

Aid the team, the Technical Authorities community and subsystem leads in carrying out performance assessments in an ad-hoc fashion using the aforementioned toolsets and capabilties



Your skills and qualifications:

Proficient in use of MATLAB/Simulink for mathematical modelling of system performance is essential


Understanding of the principles of modelling & simulation

Strong mathematical capability, with the skills to apply this to mathematical modelling and analysis


Ability to write technical documentation

Awareness of naval combat system equipment, capabilities and performance is desirable
