The Opportunity

The Infrastructure Project Lead works closely with some of MBDA’s customers to help them with the infrastructures related to the storage, maintenance and operation of weapons systems. Such infrastructures can take the form of pyrotechnical buildings and structures or conventional constructions, including workshops, storage capabilities and military facilities.
The projects that the Infrastructure Project Lead will manage will vary from customer to customer, but the Customer requirements could take the form of solutions ranging from Infrastructure Guidelines Projects where customers ask for support from MBDA to issue infrastructure design and/or construction recommendations only or Infrastructure Turnkey Projects where customers transfer the responsibility of infrastructure design and construction to MBDA. The successful candidate will be responsible for Leading Infrastructure Projects and act as the technical authority on infrastructure within the team.

What are we looking for?

  • Ideally degree qualified in disciplines related to building and construction or relevant experience;
  • Extensive professional experience in construction projects;
  • International experience working within industry and with Customers;
  • Like travelling and moving frequently;
  • Good track record in the management of sub-contractors for design and construction;
  • Strong demonstrable project management experience covering the design and construction phase;
  • General knowledge of building design and related disciplines;
  • COMAH / Pyrotechnic and related HSE experience will be an advantage;
  • Domain of Defenceexperience will be an advantage;

The Role


MBDA proposes you to join its CSS Infrastructure Projects Team to be, across all projects, from initial specifications to downstream activities such as concept design, preliminary design, detailed design and construction:
  • the technical authority (or engineering manager) :
  • Contribute to the decisions in relation to the relevant supply chain;
  • Contribute to any project management tasks such as scheduling, costing, etc.;
  • Participate to the technical validation at gates between projects phases (design, construction, etc.);
  • Ensure a formal return on experience on any relevant project;
  • Develop and maintain the team source / library of projects referential, good practices and harmonized methods;
  • Be a source of expert advice and technical excellence for any infrastructure topic within the company.
A project manager :
  • Participate in the collection of customers’ needs and in the understanding of the associated context in particular the applicable standards and regulations;
  • Balance such needs with the requirements in relation to the processes associated to storage, maintenance, operations of ammunitions and associated systems;
  • Establish associated notices and specifications
  • Managing and delivering the Projects, at agreed cost, technical, time and quality targets;
  • Organising Projects and Work Breakdown Structure, specifying infrastructures and associated equipment, authorising major decisions, validating design and site integration as well as managing risks and opportunities;
  • Challenge when relevant, the projects in order to ensure customer satisfaction as well as MBDA duty of care towards its employee in case they would have to work in such environment;
  • Ensure that consequential solutions and associated support are delivered at agreed cost, technical, time and quality targets.
  • In addition to support the team leader in all his tasks, you shall also:
  • Develop opportunities for the team in participating actively to commercial campaigns;
  • Contribute to establish the contractual commitments;
  • Contribute to source and manage the relevant technical skills.

The Customer Infrastructure team at MBDA is a multinational team, with experts in the field of infrastructure project management. The team operate internationally  If you want to work as part of a challenging and fast paced complex multi-stakeholder environment  on an international platform is multi-national with representatives from France, UK, and Italy working in a complex multi-stakeholder environment to deliver the time and cost sensitive infrastructure design and construction needs of our export Customers. The role will require frequent travel within and outside Europe, including Middle East and South Asia, to work collaboratively and manage projects. The Customer Infrastructure team is a dynamic group and joining the team at this stage provides an exciting opportunity to deliver Customer projects and shape the more global functional capability of MBDA in this key activity.
