With the latest in IP network technology, we can do more for London

As technology evolves, we’re making the most of advances to fight crime and protect London. As a Network Integration Supervisor, you’ll play your part by developing innovative IP network solutions for our front line officers. It’s a chance to make a direct impact on the success of operations as part of a dedicated team of engineering specialists.

Our Operational Support Unit (OSU) provides officers with technical solutions such as CCTV surveillance of major events, operational control room installations and encrypted communications systems. As part of this small but critical team, you’ll focus on delivering IP networks for Met operations.

With proven experience of working with switching, routing, firewalls and VPN technologies (or with an equivalent qualification), you’ll be a confident professional who communicates clearly. You’ll draw on knowledge of IP network technologies, surveillance and RF transmission, and hardware and software development, plus expertise in network security, monitoring and troubleshooting.

While technical skills are crucial, you’ll need to be organised and flexible too, as some projects could happen in challenging environments, outside office hours. Please note that a full driving licence is essential.

We view diversity as fundamental to our success. To tackle today’s complex policing challenges, we need a workforce made up from all of London’s communities. Applications from across the community are therefore essential.

Company

London covers 620 square miles and is home to millions of people speaking over 300 different languages. In this most vibrant and complex of cities, this presents an ever-evolving challenge for the Met when fighting to reduce crime - and the fear of crime.

Forging close relationships, building trust and understanding the issues within London’s different communities all form part of the fundamental platform on which effective, credible policing is built.

As a result, we must continue to recruit the brightest and the best people from every background and use the full spectrum of their skills, knowledge and experience to make London safer for everybody.
