Support Engineer

Would you like to deliver Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) activities to Royal Navy submarine programmes? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Engineer at our site in Barrow-in-Furness.

As a Senior Engineer, you will be working within the Integrated Logistics Support (ILS) Team under the function of Submarines Complex Systems and Support. ILS are responsible for the provision of the support solution, which includes identification of maintenance, spares and the provision of technical documentation in support of the product. ILS work across multiple contracts supporting the MOD in the build and provision of nuclear submarines.

This role will provide you with the chance to work with multi-disciplined stakeholders to identify spares on cutting edge systems and equipment, fitted to the latest designed nuclear submarine. Working within the engineering function has the advantage of a well-established framework to maximise your potential for professional development. This development is in line with professional engineering institutions.

Your main responsibilities as a Support Engineer will involve:

Providing engineering judgement to identify spares in new-to-service equipment, utilising technical documentation and input from Suitably Qualified and Experienced Personnel (SQEP)

Creating unique identifying part numbers to allow cataloguing of spares which have been identified

Assisting the Project Leader with the tracking of procurement activities in order to monitor progression of recommended pertaining of spares

Your skills and qualifications as a Support Engineer:

Essential:

Engineering qualification or suitable experience in reviewing Electrical technical information and providing engineering interpretation

Experience of utilising configuration management toolsets, such as Teamcentre, SAP, EAGLE etc.

Proficient user of Microsoft Office applications

Desirable:

Experience working within an ILS environment

Broad understanding of engineering
