Senior Radiographer

Would you like to play a vital role in ensuring ammunition safety and quality? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Radiographer at our site in Glascoed.

As a Senior Radiographer, you will be overseeing the X-ray systems on site and supporting six other radiographers, who will take radiographs and carry out the initial sentencing. You will be providing accurate interpretation of the Radiographs to ensure that ammunition is both safe to fire and is of the highest quality. You will also be ensuring radiation safety ensuring that all X-ray checks have been conducted.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work within a new role that will offer you the ability to grow a team and train and mentor others as it progresses.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Radiographer will involve:

Manage the X-ray team to ensure cover of critical skills

Lead Radiation Protection Supervisor for the site covering all aspects of safety with regards to radiation and compliance with IRR 2017

Expert interpretation of Radiographs and second sentencing

Register and maintain required Quality records: Techniques, Standards, Radiographs and Sentencing etc.

Provide advice on X-ray on Acceptance / Non-Acceptance of products to required colleagues

Develop X-Ray techniques and provide necessary training

Advise on improvements to Radiographic, Handling and Imaging Equipment

Your skills and qualifications:


Level 2 Radiographer

Extensive Proven experience as a radiographer

Minimum of 5 "O" Levels/ GCSE's including English, Maths and including a Science subject


Level 3 Radiographer

Understanding of Ammunition Design and Production methods

Proven experience of working as a Radiation Protection Supervisor (RPS)
