Manufacturing Engineer

Would you like work in a state-of-the art facility where the munitions are manufactured and filled created using the latest production equipment? We currently have a vacancy for a Manufacturing Engineer at our site in Radway Green.

As a Manufacturing Engineer, you will assist the operations team in developing and maintaining efficient and safe manufacturing processes and facilities to meet production programme requirements taking into consideration factors including safety, logistics, inventory and lead times.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to have involvement in continuous improvement and process improvement - being part of the solution.

Your main responsibilities as a Manufacturing Engineer will involve:

Ensuring that manufacturing processes are carried out safely by identifying and understanding process risks and implementing the necessary controls to ensure process risks are As Low As Reasonably Practicable (ALARP)

Developing and maintaining manufacturing High Hazard Safe Systems of Work, including PFMEA and Standard Operating Procedures

Initiating and managing Engineering Change Control

Providing support to ensure that overall equipment effectiveness and safety & quality targets are adhered to

Providing and controlling parts of a safe system of work i.e. SOP's (standard operating procedures), risk assessments, aspects & impacts assessment, plant, tools and gauges in line with company and statutory requirements

Supporting the production readiness review prior to manufacturing release for areas under their control

Planning and implementing of capital expenditure schemes including commissioning and assessment where appropriate

Inputting into the design process in order to drive design for manufacture and assembly

Reviewing process quality data using appropriate & statistical techniques and the identification and embodiment of continuous improvement activities

Your skills and qualifications as a Manufacturing Engineer:

Essential:

Apprenticeship/equivalent qualification or experience in Engineering/Manufacturing

Proven experience within either a manufacturing/process engineering/Aerospace/Automotive environment

Experience of process control and risk assessments (writing of and assessment)

Basic Health and Safety Knowledge (SHE)

Good understanding of MS Office Packages

Desirable:

IOSH/NEBOSH qualification

Knowledge and understanding of Continuous Improvement within manufacturing

You will have excellent communication skills - written and verbal with the ability to engage with internal and external stakeholders. You will have good problem-solving skills and be adept at identifying issues, working to provide solutions within a high pressurised environment.
