Business Development & Strategy Manager

We have an opportunity for an ambitious and forward looking Business Development & Strategy Manager to join our growing IS&S team in the South of England.

As a Business Development & Strategy Manager, you will be responsible for the leadership and development of the MoD Accounts across DE&S, NCHQ and Submarines Delivery Organisation to drive business winning activity at a strategic account level within the Maritime Sector.

The successful candidate will have the flexibly to be based at our Bristol or Portsmouth site acting as the primary focus to develop and deliver the product and sector strategy based on customer trends and knowledge of the MOD and commercial domains. You will deliver coherent product and sales strategies with excellent understanding of emergent technologies and their application, develop strategic partnerships both in UK and overseas and position our products at the C-Suite level.

The role will involve managing accounts through their lifecycle, developing existing accounts and new prospective clients, understanding competitors, monitoring the market using their pre-existing network in the industry.

Your main responsibilities will involve:

  • Work and liaise closely with the UK MOD customer to better understand their need, requirement, hot buttons and business planning.
  • Investigate, create and implement a Product strategy and associated sales strategy for all IS&S products and services across defence and non-defence.
  • Develop, grow and manage a network of senior stakeholders within the wider MOD community to help strategically position IS&S products and Services.
  • Identify new and emerging customer strategies and initiatives and identify how BAE can influence and subsequently win new business.
  • Creating and manage a through life Account plan for a strategic customer account or group of accounts within the UK MOD Maritime Market Sector.
  • Previous experience in MOD contracting, MOD user experience or specific MOD domain knowledge
  • Responsible for strategic positioning of BAES across the Maritime Sector into the key platform and information programmes.

Your skills and qualifications:

  • Strong stakeholder management capabilities in both a customer and internal business environment.
  • Good understanding of the Defence & adjacent/similar industries.
  • A proven track record in delivering profitable sales growth
  • Experience of compiling, analysis and reporting to senior management.
  • A track record in the UK Defence Market and in particular the Royal Navy would be highly desirable

Will possess exceptional communication skills and be an expert at developing relationships, rapport and networking.
