Senior Project Manager - Engineering

Would you like to work on hugely complex commercial and military projects within Electronic Intelligence and Support? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Project Manager - Engineering at our site in Rochester, Kent.

As a Senior Project Manager - Engineering, you will be reporting into directly to the Project Director and working with our key stakeholders such as; Senior Management, suppliers, customers and a multi-functional team.

This role will provide you with working on a small portfolio of projects with a rough estimate of £20Million in value along with managing a small team of project managers.

Some travel will be required to various sites and globally on an ad-hoc basis.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Project Manager will involve:

  • Developing and maintaining excellent customer relations
  • Managing team, or teams of teams depending upon value and complexity
  • Developing and maintaining a detailed project plan that embraces all elements of the project
  • Driving ownership of Work Packages and tasks throughout the project team
  • Managing the project or bid to ensure all milestones and objectives are achieved
  • Using project management techniques, to enable early disclosure of problems and effective implementation of mitigation actions
  • Achieving the agreed project cost, sales, margin and cash flow targets
  • Accountability for performance and delivery of program(s)

Your skills and qualifications as a Senior Project Manager:

Essential:

  • Proven track record in delivery of a project within tight timescale in a high pressured environment.
  • Using project management techniques, to enable early identification of problems and implementation of mitigation actions
  • Developing and maintaining excellent customer relations
  • Developing and maintaining a detailed project plan that embraces all elements of the project
  • Managing the project or bid to ensure all milestones and objectives are achieved
  • Proven Track record in delivery of a Development Program
  • A formal project management qualification (e.g. APMP, PMQ, PMP or Prince 2) or equivalent experience

Desirable:

  • Previous experience in Aerospace/Defence business
  • Broad cross functional business experience
  • Educated to degree level or equivalent - business or engineering preferably

You will have the ability to motivate, influence and manage people effectively and develop and maintain customer/partnering relationships. You will also have string collaboration skills and be able to mentor and coach other colleagues and or team.
