Ocado’s Automation Development department is at the cutting-edge of our engineering business. From the design and manufacture of the most state-of-the-art products in the business, to their delivery into our multi-million pound Customer Fulfilment Centres (CFCs) across the globe, our bespoke Mechanical Handling Equipment (MHE) development projects are pushing the boundaries of innovation and automation.
Within the Automation Development department sits the Product Development function, which is responsible for the design, testing and manufacture of our automated products (with a catalogue of around 500 products and counting!). Our Design team is now looking for a CAD & Design Quality engineer to join us, qualifying CAD data against design requirements and maintaining our PDM system, to ensure a smooth and accurate design process.
What will you be doing?
- Checking CAD data against design standards and requirements, including change documentation
- Providing governance in the CAD/design review process, including timely audits and reporting
- Creating and maintaining PDM data and workflows
- Establishing and reporting on CAD data quality metrics
- Engineering degree in Mechanical Engineering (or equivalent qualifications)
- Expert in CAD (preferably SolidWorks and/or Autodesk Inventor)
- Proven track record of the design change process and CAD management tools
- Practical experience of applying the standards relating to the Machinery Directive
