Senior Quality Engineer - Manufacturing Assurance

Would you like to join a successful team of engineers working on our Hawk and Typhoon platforms? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Quality Engineer - Manufacturing Assurance at our site in Warton/Salmesbury.

As a Senior Quality Engineer - Manufacturing Assurance, you will be will providing vital information to the Manufacturing and Quality teams on areas of risk and opportunities for improvement so that our Products and Services continue to meet the standard expected by our customers.

This role will provide you with an insight into how the Manufacturing Operations teams work and brings the opportunity to drive meaningful change due to its independence.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Quality Engineer - Manufacturing Assurance will involve:

Undertake audits of Manufacturing Operations personnel individually at their workstation, ensuring that all required and appropriate elements are in place to complete the relevant task (e.g. approvals to perform the task; required tooling; sufficient Engineering data outlining the work to be carried out, etc)

This includes:

Review of the Quality Management System controls in place within the given area to ensure that these are being applied consistently and effectively

Act independently of the programmes/projects to ensure a consistent, best practice approach to task-based auditing

Responsible for reporting audit outputs to the relevant Quality and Manufacturing management teams, ensuring messaging is clear and accurate

Travel between the Warton and Samlesbury sites to support delivery of the audit programme, working with operators at both locations

Support the Manufacturing organisation in managing audit findings (including but not limited to non-conformance) through to conclusion

Provide reports on status of audit programme delivery and audit findings management

Use insight from audits performed to drive actions at Management Review and to inform risk registers

Drive creation of business-led Quality Improvement Plans using process measurement information gained from oversight activities

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

Experience in a Manufacturing Operations environment in Aerospace/Defence sector or similar complexity (e.g. Car industry)

Understanding of controls and best practice used in Manufacturing Operations environments

Experience in writing reports to a high degree of accuracy and within specified timescales

Strong IT literacy, especially with Microsoft applications

Desirable:

Experience in carrying out audits or other types of assurance (e.g. Process Confirmation checks etc)

Knowledge of industry best-practice in Quality activities (e.g. root cause analysis, non-conformance management, investigation, etc)

Knowledge of quality requirements for aerospace and defence contracts (e.g. EN9100, AQAPs and Defence Standards)

Experience of analysing and presenting data to make recommendations on areas for improvement

Awareness of/contribution to Quality Improvement activities/plans
