Manufacturing Risk Engineer

Would you like to opportunity to provide significant input into a niche environment/sector? We currently have a vacancy for a Manufacturing Risk Engineer at our site in Glascoed.

 

 

As a Manufacturing Risk Engineer, you will be responsible for ensuring that manufacturing processes are carried out safely by identifying and understanding process risks and implementing the necessary controls to ensure process risks are As Low as Reasonably Practicable (ALARP). You will be responsible for the development, review and continuous improvement of Standard Operating Procedures, Process Hazard Assessments, General Risk Assessment, Manual Handling, COSHH and DSEAR.

This role will provide you with a unique opportunity to join a tight knit team who truly are on a journey to improve this niche business. Please note that this role is for a 1-year fixed term contract which is likely to be extended, as we are required to demonstrate ALARP for all processes to the Competent Authority through the Basis of Safety documentation by 2022.

Please Note: This role is a one year fixed term contract.

Your main responsibilities as a Manufacturing Risk Engineer will involve:

 

 

Compiling, maintaining and improving Risk Assessments including but not limited to; Manual Handling, COSHH and Hand Arm Vibration (HAVs)

 

Coordinating and leading Risk Assessment workshops to ensure the relevant functions have contributed to the Risk Assessment process and have the opportunity to peer review including liaison with the site Safety, Health, Environment (SHE) team and the High Hazard team to ensure best practice is being applied to the Risk Assessment Process

 

Reporting and reviewing findings and recommendations to the Applicable Technical Authorities, agreeing and recording appropriate actions to ensure sufficient safeguards are in place

 

Compiling, reviewing and continuously improving Standard Operating Procedures (SOPs)

 

Liaising with the Human Factors team to ensure that Safety Critical Tasks are identified through the Risk Assessment process, that subsequent controls are implemented and documented in the process SOPs

 

Undertaking any reasonable duties in order to support the Basis of Safety

 

Your skills and qualifications as a Manufacturing Risk Engineer:

Essential:

HNC or equivalent qualification or experience in Mechanical/Manufacturing/Electrical/Electronics/Chemical Engineering

 

 

Experience in a similar role, ideally gained in a complex manufacturing facility

 

Experience in carrying out Risk Assessment is essential preferably in a process industry environment

Desirable:

IOSH / NEBOSH Certificate

Knowledge of DFMEA, PFMEA and task analysis
