Senior Quality Engineer

Would you like to be a part of our long and proud heritage in the development, manufacture upgrade and support of world-leading combat and fast jet trainer aircraft? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Quality Engineer at our site in Warton/Salmesbury.

As a Senior Quality Engineer, you will be involved in supplier management and internal assurance collaborating with partners large and small, from within and beyond the defence sector both from the UK and around the globe.

The roles are high tempo, demanding and customer facing across multiple products such as Typhoon, Hawk and Tornado aircraft within development, acquisition and in-service phases of the life cycle.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Quality Engineer will involve:

Lifecycle phase dependant quality assurance and control activities

Governance, Assurance and Compliance against NADCAP, AS9100, part 145 and ISO55001 accreditation amongst others

Management of Third Party, customer and regulatory approval visits

Management of supply chain activities including supplier approvals

Performance of first article verifications and factory acceptance tests relating to new and updated equipment

Provision of product certification and release documentation

Effective management of quality issues through investigation, root cause analysis, corrective action and verification

Process measurement to drive business improvement activities

Internal/external customer and partner company liaison

Management system deployment and maintenance including policy, process and performance management

Help to shape and mould the future Quality Management System

Your skills and qualifications:


HND, HNC or Engineering / Science degree (or equivalent)

Good understanding of the product and service lifecycle

Good understanding of modern quality practices and toolsets

Knowledge of quality requirements for aerospace and defence contracts (e.g. EN9100, NADCAP, Part 145, AQAPs, Defence Standards)

Good communication/presentation skills with the ability to exchange factual information

The ability to persuade and influence people while maintaining focus

Good IT literacy and attention to detail
