Supply Chain Quality Engineer
Would you like to play a key role within Air's quality function? We currently have a vacancy for a Supply Chain Quality Engineer at our site in Warton/Samlesbury.
As a Supply Chain Quality Engineer, you will be working within a high tempo, demanding and customer facing position across multiple products such as Typhoon, Hawk and Tornado aircraft within development, acquisition and in-service phases of the life cycle. The vacancy comes at a significant time during the deployment of the Supplier Quality Assurance Strategy and the role offers an opportunity to contribute to the direction of the Quality and Procurement Functions.
The role is based in the Europe & International Line of Business, with a broad scope of exciting products and services for global customers. It enables an individual to develop supplier and internal relationships, apply engineering and investigation skills and manage tactical and strategic supplier engagement activities.
The positions may require occasional national and international travel in order to work collaboratively with partners and customers.
Your main responsibilities as a Supply Chain Quality Engineer will involve:
Visiting suppliers in the UK and abroad to conduct/co-ordinate investigations, process confirmations, audits and support other functional engagements with suppliers
Contributing to the definition, establishment and deployment of a Supplier Assurance Framework
Providing effective and efficient Quality leadership and support to the business and supply chain on quality related issues
Ensuring suppliers understand and are capable of achieving defined quality requirements (process and product) and recovering non-compliant conditions
Establishing relevant and appropriate indicators/measures that will allow for the evaluation of the effectiveness and efficiency of suppliers Quality Management Systems
Providing accurate, independent Supplier Quality Intelligence and Assurance to the business
Being responsible for reporting the outputs of Supplier Quality Assurance activities
Your skills and qualifications:
Use of industry quality tools such as SPC, Six Sigma, Lean, process improvement, yield improvement, Pareto charts, root cause analysis, etc
Data analysis experience
A strong communicator with excellent presentation skills, and the ability to exchange engineering and performance information across both internal and external customers
Strong IT literacy, especially with Microsoft applications
Ability to adapt, be flexible and to work within a constantly changing environment
Aerospace and Defence quality experience is not essential. Automotive, Pharmaceutical, procurement or engineering experience may be transferrable
Knowledge of quality requirements for aerospace and defence contracts (e.g. EN9100, AQAPs and Defence Standards)
Assurance experience (e.g. audits, investigations etc.)
