Senior Quality Engineer - Governance

Would you like to work within an interesting role supporting our Air Sector at BAE Systems? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Quality Engineer - Governance at our sites in Warton and Samlesbury. Here at BAE Systems Air, we have a long and proud heritage in the development, manufacture upgrade and support of world-leading combat and fast jet trainer aircraft.

Today, we operate across the globe, in multiple markets to support our customers - wherever, whenever and whatever their challenges may be. We support them across the whole life cycle of the air sector - from design, development and production, through to provision of aircraft, training, support and maintenance.

As a Senior Quality Engineer - Governance, you will work as part of a team focused on improving the effectiveness and efficiency of the business through designing and deploying improved quality processes. Through building an understanding of what laws/regulations the organisation must adhere to whilst working with internal and external customers to ensure they get what they need, this role is about combining good quality practice with innovation to add real value to our products and services.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to designing policies and processes for use by Quality functional personnel and others right across the Air sector (up to c.25k people across multiple countries). It has a significant Continuous Improvement focus - there is a large opportunity to take best practice from across the newly-formed Air business and share that across the programmes and projects.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Quality Engineer - Governance will involve:

Building understanding of different quality considerations that the business needs to achieve, working with stakeholders to develop appropriate Quality policies and processes.

Improving Quality policies and processes within the BAE Systems Air Business Management System / Quality Management System.

Liaising with stakeholders across the business to gather user feedback and identify improvement opportunities.

Developing Key Performance Indicators (KPIs) for Quality processes, ensuring that the required data sets are available.

Monitoring Quality policy and process deployment, identifying risk 'hot spots' as applicable and working with process users to resolve these.

Promoting Quality policy and process deployment, including significant stakeholder engagement to coach on improving quality (e.g. clinics, Communities of Practice etc).

Imbedding an effective and efficient Quality Review structure into the organisation focusing on Continuous Improvement and Risk.

Providing specialist input to support the development of a Quality Assurance career framework, including approach to increasing technical competence (e.g. Training strategy).

General Quality Assurance support as required, including quality planning, risk based assessments, product assurance and continuous improvement applied throughout the product lifecycle.

Providing support to independent quality investigations as required.

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential

Experience in designing and/or implementing processes within a large/complex organisation

Experience in designing process KPIs and associated reporting techniques

Knowledge of quality standards (e.g. ISO 9001) with emphasis on methods for achieving process effectivity

Experience establishing Quality Reviews and highlighting key data to use proactively/to predict potential future events

Knowledge of industry best-practice in Quality activities (e.g. root cause analysis, non-conformance management, investigation, etc)

Strong IT literacy, especially with Microsoft applications

Desirable

Knowledge of quality requirements for aerospace and defence contracts (e.g. EN9100, AQAPs and Defence Standards)

Assurance experience (e.g. audits, investigations etc)

Data analysis experience

Development and/or delivery of Quality training

Experience in a discipline other than Quality (e.g. Procurement, Project Management etc)

What we're looking for in you:

You must have the ability to work as an effective team member, with the capability to provide leadership and coaching to other members of the team. You must possess good negotiation and influencing skills and be a strong communicator with excellent presentation skills.

Salary: £37,654.00+

Location: Warton or Samlesbury
