An opportunity has arisen for a dynamic individual to join our Bristol team to represent RF group working alongside Future Systems Air Defence (FSAD) where you will be responsible for the Large Radar strategy for MBDA UK.
The role will require the successful applicant to work closely with our customers and Radar suppliers to develop integrated Weapon Systems that will deliver battle-winning capability.
What are we looking for?
- We are looking for a Radar Specialist to mature and deliver our large Radar strategy. The strategy will addresses Radars for Land, Maritime and Air domains for Air Defence and other applications.
- You will be able to demonstrate a detailed understanding of radar theory and technologies, where you will assess and specify the overall impact of the radar on the weapon system’s capability and performance.
- You will be able to demonstrate experience of supplier and customer engagement, and provide confidence in your ability to work with a disparate range of stake holders both internally and externally.
- You will have the ability to lead and inspire others, ideally in complex organisation where there are ulti-disciplined teams.
- The successful candidate will be able to grow and develop in the role, they will be able to set technical direction and provide an inspirational and creative working environment.
- You will be able to keep up to date with the latest technologies and developments and to shape the future Weapon System Capability and influence future Radar exploitation
- You will be able to exploit your high level systems thinking to support the development of future weapon systems in air, land and maritime domains.

- You will manage and deliver UK packages of work within the MBDA International Large Radar Internal research and development as well as supporting contracted studies
- Establish links with the UK Customer Large Radar community in DSTL, DE&S and the Front Line Commands
- Actively participate in the MBDA international community to develop Large Radar expertise
- Maintain an awareness of Radar technology evolution and the potential impact on Weapon System Capabilities
- Familiar with Systems Engineering as applied to Large Radars, including the ability to specify for these products
- Knowledge and experience of using MATLAB/Simulink for performance modelling
- Experience of real world radar operational performance and issue
- Future Systems Air Defence UK is a small agile team of motivated engineers responsible for developing MBDA future products in the Air Defence domain in the UK
- Innovation is encouraged in this team and the domain provides many opportunities for implementation
- The team works closely with the wider Future Systems Air Defence team across MBDA providing plenty of opportunities for international co-operation
