Principal Designer (Data Management)

Would you like to provide support to the Engineering teams on our Dreadnought Programme? We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Designer (Data Management) at our site in Barrow-In-Furness.

As a Principal Designer (Data Management), you will be providing guidance and support to the Engineering community through the provision of appropriate training, process, guidance and communication. You will also be part of the team supporting consumers of Engineering data through the management and resolution of Engineering Queries. This role will be multi-faceted, using data analytics to help resolve a range of issues including: Drawings, BoM, CNC and Welds as well as engaging with cross functional stakeholders to better understand planning, supply chain, manufacture and Build within the business.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work across functions within the business to broaden the overall understanding of how Engineering data is consumed and used. This understanding and broadening of knowledge could lead to wider opportunities within the Submarines Enterprise.

Your main responsibilities as a Principal Designer (Data Management) will involve:

Data Management and Support Team:

Governance of Engineering Data Quality

Production of Engineering Quality Metrics

Maintaining Process and Guidance documentation

Identifying and resolving Engineering quality issues

Pro active identification and resolution of issues

Maintenance of process and guidance documentation

Engineering Queries (EQ's):

Root cause analysis of problems

Analysing and reporting trends

Liaising between Engineering and the consumers of Engineering data to resolve pre-production issues

Providing appropriate communications and support to Designer community to avoid further issues developing

Excellent Knowledge of Foran and Teamcenter in the context of Engineering Stage 2 & 3 activities preferred

Good knowledge of IT systems used within Engineering

Can work under own initiative

Good knowledge of Engineering processes in the context of Product Design and Integration

Good broad knowledge of Engineering disciplines e.g. Electrical, Mechanical and Structure

Your skills and qualifications:

Excellent Knowledge of Foran and Teamcenter in the context of Engineering Stage 2 & 3 activities preferred

Root cause analysis skills

Good knowledge of IT systems used within Engineering

Good knowledge of Engineering processes in the context of Product Design and Integration

Good broad knowledge of Engineering disciplines e.g. Electrical, Mechanical and Structure

You will be an excellent communicator with good interpersonal skills to work with a range of stakeholders. You will also have good mediation skills enabling you to resolve any issues that arise. Building relationships and being a supportive, helpful and approachable individual will also be key to this role.
