Engineering Manager - Structures & Outfit

Would you like to play a key role within our Hunter Class programme? We currently have a vacancy for an Engineering Manager - Structures & Outfit. This role could be based at one of our sites in Glasgow, Bristol OR Portsmouth.

The Hunter program will deliver nine anti-submarine warfare frigates to the Royal Australian Navy, and is the biggest surface ship project in Australia's defence history. Prototyping will begin in 2020, before steel is cut on the first ship in 2022

As Engineering Manager - Structures & Outfit for the Hunter Programme, you will be joining at an interesting stage of a large scale international programme, involved in the systems design stage within a complex set of circumstances. Your roles is to provide engineering and management expertise on the delivery of high value projects and to manage the engineering resource for such projects including the delivery of engineering work and services within cost, schedule and quality targets.

This role will provide you with the opportunity of working within a geographically dispersed team with international travel as both the customer and wider team are based in Australia.

Your main responsibilities as an Engineering Manager - Structures & Outfit will involve:

Engineering management lead for the structures and outfit scope of systems design on Hunter Class, leading the engineering change

Management and development of team

Technical leadership/oversight of structures outfit area

Delivery working with system design and detail design

Your skills and qualifications:

Chartered engineer

Broad knowledge and experience of structural design and integration preferable on warship construction but would also consider commercial experience

Experience in a senior engineering position on a large complex naval ship programme

Team management or leadership experience is essential
