Senior Systems Engineer


Would you like the opportunity to play a key role in the design and integration of systems on a Future Royal Navy Submarine programme. We have a vacancy for a Systems Engineer at Frimley, Weymouth or Filton - Bristol.


Complex Systems and Support (CS&S) is a business area that continues to grow to meet the demands of design, development and supply of technology leading complex systems into the In Service Astute Class, Dreadnought Class and future submarine programmes. As a Systems Engineer, you will have the opportunity to interface with various teams and work at the very forefront of modern technology


In this role you will work within a major complex system design environment in support of engineering design definition and programme delivery for Dreadnought. The role will be wide ranging and will develop over time but initially will focus on key areas below:


Your main responsibilities as a Senior Systems Engineer will involve:


Supporting the Principal Engineer (Operability) role in the production of a complete set of Concept of Operations (CONOPS) model-based views. Working with Systems Design and Sub System teams to define System Level CONOPS and capture as a series of Operational views in an EA model.


Understanding the Dreadnought Complex Systems business processes and the business environment; extending knowledge base and evaluating, delivering and managing several areas of working involving complex time management to achieve timely results.


Supporting the Engineering Delivery Manager in the governance and guidance of the Dreadnought Combat Systems design teams as required in order to meet programme milestones and Life Cycle Management (LCM) deliverables.


Contributing to identification and rapid closure of issues emerging from all product lifecycle stages and managing the resulting change embodiment activities.


Liaising with both internal and external customers as required ensuring that their requirements are adequately supported, their needs are fully considered, incorporated where appropriate and agreed.


Your skills and qualifications:


Degree level qualification (or equivalent experience)


Understanding of the system engineering lifecycle and be able to apply good systems engineering practices to your work


Understanding of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE)

Complex Systems and Support:

Complex Systems and Support (CS&S) is part of BAE Systems Submarines. We predominantly supply to the UK MoD but with smaller derivative work done in support of international Customers. Our team is responsible for system design, build and/or procurement of the major electronic and mechanical systems on a submarine, as well as provision of test, integration and support services.
