Principal Commissioning Manager

Location - Reading/Basingstoke area

Salary - £55,000.00- £65,000.00 per annum plus contributory pension scheme, generous holiday entitlement, additional benefits and an excellent work / life balance including a 9-day working fortnight and flexible working hours (role dependent).

We are looking for Principal Commissioning Manager to join our small but busy team and be part of a multi-discipline service delivery function. This is a key role whereby you will be the focal point to provide appropriate commissioning and compliance guidance to AWE's Engineering, Asset and Project communities. You will give advice, information and expertise about policy, best practice, engineering knowledge and standards whilst ensuring due governance to meet nuclear licence conditions, safety codes and quality standards.

Within this role you will:

  • Ensure the delivery of the commissioning requirements of the project from design to end within constraints safely, within quality, time and performance constraints
  • Ensure commissioning teams are appropriately organised and that key personnel are demonstrably competent to undertake their roles
  • Provide improvement mechanisms based on current operating experience, wider UK commercial best practices and peer nuclear and explosive licensed organisations
  • Manage people so will be accountable for the mentoring, development, reporting and conduct of staff in your reporting chain

The ideal person for this role will need to have worked in a technical environment with responsibility for the engineering lifecycle and be able to articulate technical complexities in a clear manner. You will be used to working in a highly regulated environment with extensive knowledge of engineered plant and systems.

To be considered for this role you will need:

  • To have worked in a technical environment with responsibility for the specification, operational performance, maintenance and commissioning of safety justified plant and equipment to the highest levels of quality, safety and security
  • Extensive experience of governance and compliance management of regulatory requirements, statutory bodies; regulation under HSAWA; Guidance Documentation; Commissioning Procedures/Work Instructions; Safety Documentation
  • To have led multi-discipline groups including managing/working with contractors
  • To be able to chair technical and general meetings and direct work to meet the programme
  • Awareness and knowledge of Nuclear Regulations, Barrier Procedures and Health Physics Protection

Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role.
