Embedded Software Engineers - 'Engineering the Extraordinary'

Location: Reading / Basingstoke Area

Package: Competitive dependent on experience plus contributory pension scheme, generous holiday entitlement, additional benefits and an excellent work / life balance including a 9-day working fortnight and flexible working hours (role dependent). The Warhead Engineering group at AWE is looking for embedded software engineers at various stages of their career, who specialise in, or wishes to specialise in the design and development of low-powered cyber-physical devices within a diverse R&D environment. The development activities will be varied and cover software at both the hardware abstraction and application layers targeting a range of microcontrollers (generally ARM cortex M family devices), core skills including:

  • Knowledge of at least one high level programming language
  • Proven experience in the product of soft real time systems, including the ability to write embedded software at the register access level
  • Proven experience of using standard communications protocols (e.g. UART, SPI, I2C, CAN)
  • Understanding of electronics and be able to read schematics
  • Ability to design systems using standard model based engineering techniques (e.g. UML, Matlab)
  • A working knowledge of systems, requirements and verification engineering
  • Knowledge of software configuration management techniques

To be considered for these roles, you must have an HNC / HND or higher qualification in an engineering discipline or proven experience working in a similar environment and possess strong communication skills.

Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role.
