Senior Maintenance Engineer (ILS)

Would you like the opportunity to work directly and jointly with the UK MoD, Royal Navy and a wide variety of internal and external stakeholders on the Type 45 destroyer? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Maintenance Engineer (ILS) at our site in Filton, Bristol.

As a Senior Maintenance Engineer (ILS), you will be working within a team responsible for influencing the operability and maintainability of the platform, providing specialist engineering, naval expertise and advice in support of cost-effective maintenance management procedures and processes for the equipment and systems on the T45 Destroyer.

This role will provide you with an excellent opportunity to develop your Supportability Engineering capabilities within a dynamic and challenging environment, and to be involved in the continued development of a support solution for a complex platform.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Maintenance Engineer (ILS) will involve:

Change driven review and update of Reliability Centred Maintenance (RCM) Studies for T45, noting that the studies may be both formal RCM and non-RCM. This may include liaison with the MoD MMSG group

Analysing the Original Equipment Manufacturers (OEM) recommended maintenance policies and to derive cost effective through life support maintenance recommendations for those equipment's and systems that are fitted to the T45

Liaising with the T45 Class Output Management (COM) to resolve any maintenance issues

Carrying out technical analyses and investigations to ensure that all aspects of in-service maintenance safely meet the requirements of both base and the ships staff maintainers, including evaluation and selection of maintenance options, and preparation of reports with suggested recommendations to support the resolution of problems

Conducting detailed Technical Documentation reviews and assessments to ensure that all aspects of maintenance engineering requirements are fully developed with the provision of technical critique as required

Participating in the outgoing T45 Maintenance Review Board (MRB) processes, as well as supporting the incoming Maintenance Review and Approval Boards (MRAB)

Your skills and qualifications as a Senior Maintenance Engineer (ILS):

Essential:

Degree/ HNC or equivalent experience in a relevant Engineering or Science based discipline

Knowledge and experience of Electrical / Mechanical systems

Experience of operating in an Integrated Logistic Support (ILS) environment preferably delivering to a Def Stan 00-60 standard

RCM trained and have previous experience of conducting RCM analysis

Have a working knowledge of the RN Unit Maintenance Management System (UMMS) tool set

Desirable:

Experience within a maintenance/ maintainer role from a marine environment such as shipbuilding, ship support or oil and gas, although Supportability experience from other areas is equally relevant and welcome

Experience of utilising databases and understanding configuration requirements

Knowledge of the Support environment for military equipment
