Asset Management Leader (Office of the Chief Engineer)

This is a new role for UKAEA and offers the opportunity for the Asset Management Leader to establish the function in the business. The role holder will be accountable for developing and implementing the strategic asset management direction and supporting plan on behalf of the organisation.

Key Accountabilities and Responsibilities

- To establish the asset management organisation and team throughout UKAEA
- To facilitate and enable the organisation to develop effective, efficient asset management ways of working (encompassing people, processes and tools), including asset information, performance and statutory requirements; tool architecture and implementation; internal stakeholder management; external benchmarking and horizon scanning
- To challenge the business to continually improve asset performance, providing recommendations and options via a periodically updated strategic asset management plan (SAMP) for our overall asset portfolio
- To challenge the business to continually improve its asset management capability and ways of working via a periodically updated strategic development plan (SDP)
- To provide an escalation route for issues from asset managers from across UKAEA: assessing impact, informing relevant decision makers then leading an effective resolution

You?

- Experience developing and embedding new ways of working within an organisation (people, process, tools) and beyond (e.g. standards development)
- Leadership and delivery of Asset Management in an operationally demanding business with complex plants (including development of effective performance metrics, measurable performance improvements, understanding of relevant industrial regulations practices)
- Leadership and management of diverse teams, both directly and matrix managed

Your education should include a degree (or equivalent experience) in a technical topic such as chemical engineering, mechanical engineering, materials science, physics, etc

You have endorsed your professional progression via membership of a recognised professional body and your professional training might include and IAM Diploma and IOSH Managing Safely. If not, we`ll support this in your new role.

Selection Method(s):

- We`re planning on an initial remote interview if you are shortlisted
- An on-site interview may follow, including a chance to tour some relevant plant. This will help you understand a little more about our organisation, site and the work that we do
- You may also need to complete a work based simulation exercise and a personality profile either online or onsite
