Systems Engineer (Direct Entry)

A fantastic opportunity exists to join our Rochester site in the role of Systems Engineer, where you will play a key role in the design and development of electronic systems

As a Systems Engineer, you will work in a holistic, multi-disciplined role, focussing on the bigger picture and bridging the gaps between the disciplines (such as software, electronics and mechanical) by using your knowledge of the system to provide appropriate information to each area. You will be involved in all phases of the lifecycle from concept design, development, integration and testing through to formal release to the customer.

You will be working as part of a team of highly experienced, passionate and innovative engineers creating world-leading control and display systems. Electronic Systems support a range of commercial and military platforms, including fixed and rotary wing aircraft, ground vehicles, human-machine interfaces and power management. Our systems operate in more than 100 countries with 25 air forces, 30 manufacturers and 280 airlines.

This role will provide you with a rare opportunity to work on and develop a series of products that will be utilised on board both commercial and military platforms. Systems include Head Up Displays, Helmet Mounted Displays, Flight Control Systems, Active Inceptor Systems and Mission Systems.

Your main responsibilities as a Systems Engineer will involve:

  • Understanding our customers' challenging needs and specifying their requirements
  • Developing complex system architectures and sub-systems to satisfy customer needs
  • Integrating electronic, mechanical and software sub-systems to provide a fully operating system
  • Verifying that customer needs will be consistently satisfied in varying and hostile environmental conditions

Your skills and qualifications as a Systems Engineer:

Essential:

  • Degree or equivalent qualification or experience in a Scientific/Engineering subject (e.g. Systems, Electronic or Software Engineering, Physics, Maths) that has required "system" thinking
  • Experience/knowledge of design analysis, modelling or simulation (e.g. Simulink or MATLAB)

Desirable:

  • Experience of integrating and testing software and/or electronic hardware
  • Defence/Military/Aerospace exposure/knowledge/experience

What we're looking for in you:

You will be a strong team player with a real passion for technology. As well as adopting an analytical approach to problem solving, you will exercise your solid communication skills in order to work effectively with your team.

Location: Rochester, Kent UK

Salary: Competitive

Benefits: Our employees receive an excellent benefits package which includes a competitive pension scheme, enhanced annual leave allowance and a Company contributed Share Incentive Plan. We also offer a range of additional benefits such as flexible working, an employee assistance programme, Cycle2work and many local and national employee discounts. Some employees may also be eligible for an annual incentive.
