About the role

We are recruiting an Electrical Engineering Group Leader to lead the electrical teams involved in delivering our large projects like EPAC (Extreme Photonics Applications Centre) and supporting the scientific programme. This is an exciting and diverse role in a dynamic and exciting environment managing wide teams covering design, implementation maintenance and decommissioning. Many systems are bespoke to meet the specific need of the facility and experiments.

  • Software development using modern languages like C# on both Microsoft and Linux platforms.

The Electrical Engineering Group Leader is responsible for the technical and strategic leadership, the development and management of the group and the oversight and prioritisation of the day to day operations of the 30 strong team.

This key role is significant to the future of the CLF by:

  • Leading the Electrical Engineering Group for the operational delivery of the facilities and the experimental programme to ensure world-class science is carried out safely and effectively.
  • Leading the Electrical Engineering Group on development of these facilities or new facilities to maintain the CLF’s status as a world leading provider of such facilities.
  • Providing software controls, motion, vacuum and gas controls, personnel interlock systems and electrical technical input to the strategic development of CLF facilities and capabilities to maintain the CLF’s status as a world leading provider of such facilities.
  • Supporting and overseeing the Electrical Engineering Group input to the work CLF does for external or commercial clients.
