Principle Engineer - Virtualisation

Would you like to play a key role in Defence Information vision to be a premier provider of business and mission critical, highly secure and assured information systems and services across our UK and international markets? We currently have a vacancy for a Principle Engineer - Virtualisation at our site in Christchurch.

As a Principle Engineer - Virtualisation, you will be collaborating securely in order to gain information advantage. This role will give you the opportunity to rapidly deployable secure communications globally enabling operational advantage whilst using a fusion of information intelligently to enable informed decision making.

This is a new role in the business that will provide the successful candidate the opportunity to lead and shape how technology drives the business forward over the coming years.

Your main responsibilities as a Principle Engineer - Virtualisation will involve:

Establishing and delivering a strategic roadmap for future virtualisation technologies to be incorporated in military deployable communication and information systems

Technology domain expert in the design of complex, highly secure and highly available information systems and networks utilising a range of virtualisation technologies

Staying current on emerging industry trends, technologies and issues and have demonstrated the ability to identify and drive customer requirements & market needs into actionable goals

Having a good understanding of customer requirements, using proof of concepts (POC's) to drive the early technology adoption that results in creating demand for our solutions

Influencing technology selection and integration

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential skills

Working knowledge of private cloud based architectures, including but not limited to AWS or Azure

Understanding of virtualisation technologies including but not limited to Docker containers, Kubernetes, OpenShift, VMware and Hyper-V

Expert level automation skills converting manual and maintenance functions into fully orchestrated automation

Experience with Hyper Converged Infrastructure, software defined storage and software defined networking technologies

Design and implementation of secure cloud architectures
