Mechanical Engineer

Would you like to play a key role supporting the Refit Support Group (RSG) and Maintenance Support Unit (MSU)? We currently have a vacancy for a Mechanical Engineer at our site in Portsmouth.

As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be carrying out daily UMMS (scheduling) tasks,

Ship's staff maintenance on various Type 45 equipment's, including fault analysis, repair defects and carryout STOROB (removal/fitting of parts) activities during Type 45 upkeep periods

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work with complex engineering systems on-board Royal Navy ships with progression opportunities within BAE as an engineer.

Your main responsibilities as a Mechanical Engineer will involve:

Carrying out key maintenance on equipment and systems on the Royal Navy's T45 destroyers in a partnership with the refit support group.

Carrying out daily UMMS tasks and CAT 'A' maintenance

Maintaining and reporting on a regular basis the material state of the ship

Carrying out defect rectification

Carrying out STOROB activities

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

HNC/HND or equivalent qualification/experience in an engineering discipline

Knowledge of maintenance regimes within Royal Navy ships or similar. E.G Diesel generators, saltwater systems, HP/LP Air systems and HVAC systems.

Ability to be flexible to undertake tasks across any trade disciplines as required, training will be given where required

Be aware of and adhere to statutory regulations (including those of Information Systems, Safety Health & Environment and Security Requirements).

Desirable:

Knowledge of Ships HV systems

Knowledge of maintenance scheduling systems/software
