User Centred Design (UX) Engineer

Are you curious about the world? Can you engage with end users and think through problems from many different angles to drive possible solutions? We're looking for ambitious and creative people who want to play an integral part in making things happen and currently have a vacancy for a User Centred Design (UX) Engineer at our site in Warton.

As a User Centred Design (UX) Engineer, you will be joining a team of user centred and human factors specialists who act as an internal consultancy for BAE Systems Air Sector, specialising in product design, information, services and technology. You will work closely with our Engineers, Analysts and Project Managers (and directly with the customer's teams) to help our customers transform the way they deliver products and services with a user centred focus.

This role will provide you with a unique opportunity to rotate across research, design and analysis and to work on cutting-edge assignments with a range of customers. This is also suitable for entry level graduates looking to kick-start the next chapter of their career and with an expanding team, there is real scope for you to help shape the future direction of our team.

Your main responsibilities as a User Centred Design (UX) Engineer will involve:

Understanding and engaging with end users and building relationships quickly with lots of people from different backgrounds

Planning, designing and executing various methods of user research sessions to gain impartial and targeted insights which feed into decisions

Working with people to create innovative, workable ideas that can challenge the way they see things

Utilising your organisational and communication skills to manage work in a fast-paced environment

Visualising and understanding the end-to-end user journey, using holistic thinking to simplify and offer solutions for complex problems

Presenting your findings and ideas (both verbally and visually) in a structured way that sets out complex issues very simply

Your skills and qualifications as a User Centred Design (UX) Engineer:

Essential:

Degree or equivalent qualification or experience in User Centred Design/Ergonomics/Human Computer Interaction

Experience in User Research, Requirements gathering, User testing, creating User journeys, User Interface design

Desirable:

Understanding of prototyping tools/wireframing software tools e.g. Balsamiq, Azure, Adobe XD, Adobe Creative Cloud

What we're looking for in you:

We are looking for ambitious people with inquiring minds, and an ability to research and interpret information from a user centred perspective to develop logical, and creative solutions for users. You will have a positive outlook and an enthusiasm and willingness to learn. You will have excellent communication skills and an ability to engage with a broad range of stakeholders.

Location: Warton

Salary: Circa £30,000 - £32,000 depending on experience
