Human Factors Engineer

Would you like to be involved in the early concept work of a future fighter jet programme? If you know why people do what they do, how people make decisions, how they perceive their environment and react to the things around them then you may be the person we need. We currently have a vacancy for a Human Factors Engineer at our site in Warton and this is suitable for entry level graduates.

As a Human Factors Engineer, you will be joining an expanding team of human factors specialists working with a broad range of engineers alongside pilots, to help design the future cockpit from physical layout to the inclusion of novel technologies for displaying information.

This role will provide you with a truly unique opportunity to be involved in early concept design, to be innovative and to help shape our future with great opportunities for progression within the team or wider business.

Your main responsibilities as a Human Factors Engineer will involve:

Supporting the development of future cockpit concepts through the application of your Human Factors (HF) Knowledge

Conducting literature reviews, Task Analysis

Utilising Human Factors tools and techniques

Gathering workload data using a variety of HF techniques

Supporting the development of human machine interface through investigating novel technologies

Application of Human Factors standards e.g. Def Stan 00-251

Conducting assessments of concept designs with pilots

Your skills and qualifications as a Human Factors Engineer:

Essential:

Degree or equivalent qualification or experience in Human Factors/Ergonomics/Psychology

Desirable:

Knowledge and understanding of HF methods used within design lifecycle

You will be a self-motivated individual, capable of working within a multi-disciplinary team. You will be able to manage your workload, prioritising tasks when required with good attention to detail. You will be able to communicate well with stakeholders of all levels with strong analytical skills.
