AWE has been named in the Sunday Times top 25 big companies to work for in 2019.

We currently have excellent opportunities for Systems Engineers leading one more activities within a wider Systems Engineering team within our engineering function on a variety of projects. You could be supporting challenging weapons related projects throughout the lifecycle or helping to drive our major capital build/re-kit projects which underpin and enable the crucial work we do at AWE.

In growing our capability across these areas, we will also be looking to grow your skills and knowledge as an Engineer with opportunities for development and progression across our programmes of work including the opportunity for overseas travel and secondments once restrictions are lifted.

We are interested in hearing from candidates who have a working knowledge of applying systems engineering and systems thinking to mechanical, electronic, safety, security or nuclear projects and are interested in developing their career with us.

Ideally you will have demonstrable experience of working as part of a wider Systems Engineering team on multi-disciplined projects (which could be weapons based) and have experience in leading the delivery of one or more of the following areas:

  • Requirements engineering
  • System architectures
  • System integration

In addition to the core Systems Engineering requirements above, experience of technical and/or people leadership within either a project or functional environment would be advantageous.

To be considered for the role, you must have an HNC / HND or higher qualification in an engineering discipline or proven experience working in a similar environment. You should be a strong communicator with the ability to work with multiple stakeholders and effectively balance / prioritise your work around programme and technical requirements.

Candidates must be willing and able to obtain and maintain the necessary security clearance for the role.

We welcome applications from candidates who would like to discuss flexible/part time working
