Manufacturing Engineering Manager

Would you like to lead a team of multidiscipline professional Manufacturing Engineers with the motivation for change and improvements? We currently have a vacancy for a Manufacturing Engineering Manager at our site in Broad Oak.

As a Manufacturing Engineering Manager you will be responsible for leading a Manufacturing Engineering team, either in a project or functional area, to Design, Define, Modify, Optimise and Govern the Manufacturing, Assembly Build and Test processes to enable safe and predictable delivery of the design intent to cost and schedule. The purpose of Manufacturing Engineering is to develop, implement and govern capable methods of manufacture, assembly, disassembly and repair (including method of verification) which can meet customer and business requirements for Safety, Quality, Cost and Delivery throughout the production lifecycle, ensuring compliance to design intent.

This role will provide you with an opportunity to bring new ideas and process improvement to the current team. As you progress in the role you will have the opportunity to manage a larger team and give you exposure to the wider BAE.

Your main responsibilities as a Manufacturing Engineering Manager will involve:

Leading a team of multidiscipline professional Manufacturing Engineers, planning and co-coordinating their activities to meet departmental and business requirements

Managing the interfaces between Manufacturing Engineering, Design, Project Management, Manufacturing and other stakeholders

Managing schedules, plans, budgets, performance, task management, delegation, activity delivery, configuration control stages and detailed reviews of outputs prior to formal release

Chairing technical meetings and reviews as necessary, that support the Manufacturing Engineering end deliverable.

Liaising with and manage stakeholders and internal/external customers as appropriate.

Providing supporting information to Senior Management to determine the team resourcing requirements and to maintain the correct manning levels in line with the agreed Forward load

Leading the development of business justifications to implement new and replacement technologies and equipment

Utilising innovation and creativity to solve problems and implement continuous improvement.

Your skills and qualifications:

Ensure adherence to all Manufacturing Engineering processes, procedures and mandates.

Ensuring that manufacturing data packs comply with the Engineering design intent and are transferred into the manufacturing system in a timely manner.

Ensure that configuration control and data management of the product build standard are established and maintained.

Achieve agreement with the Project on the Manufacturing Engineering discipline resourcing requirements, and to provide support in order to achieve plans.

Authorization and championing of requirements for new technology and development in the area

MOD/ Defence experience - Desirable
