Assistant Project Leader - Designer Management - Electrical

Would you like to play a key role in supporting the Submarines Electrical Design Team? We currently have a vacancy for an Assistant Project Leader - Designer Management - Electrical at our site in Barrow-in-Furness.

As an Assistant Project Leader - Designer Management - Electrical, you will be working within the Electrical Design team, Producing and overseeing the production of engineering solutions in the form of models, drawings and other technical outputs in accordance with prescribed working standards and practices, and to carry out any special duties as directed.

This role is unique within Engineering in that it is the first step into a management career and as such retains technical duties as per senior designer whilst introducing management duties as an introduction to this new career.

Your main responsibilities as an Assistant Project Leader - Designer Management - Electrical will involve:

Training and mentoring team members in team specific activities

Deputising for Project Leader as necessary including people management issues

Planning and allocating tasks to the Design Team, and collect and collate progress information alongside the Project Leader, for monitoring and improvement actions

Producing weekly reports with progression updates & performance reports to ensure the team is working to target along with assisting with budget planning & forecasts

Assisting with communication to business stakeholders and suppliers in writing, by telephone and in face-to-face meetings, and with other functions to discuss technical issues and problems

Be involved in the decision-making process for the planning, people development and issue resolution when required

Overseeing Designer deliverable to the programme schedule along with Data Collation (Input & Report building) to ensure smooth running of department

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

Electrical Designer & technical Background

CAD 2D & 3D Background

Product lifecycle software e.g. Teamcenter

Microsoft/Power point & Excel experience

Desirable:

Relationship building with managers & outside stakeholders

Preferable Electrical Engineering experience
