Senior QC (Quality Control) Inspector

Would you like to play a key role within Supplier Assurance in the Quality Function, supporting the Astute and Successor Programmes? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior QC Inspector at our site in Barrow-in-Furness.

As a Senior QC Inspector, you will be performing Quality Inspections to BAE requirements, audit and document receipt of procured parts within the business and assuring that high quality records are produced as an output of the production processes and Inspections.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to drive further improvements across the function, adding real value to the business and the customer. The team also has responsibility for inspection across various suppliers and other stakeholders who play a role in this complex product.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior QC Inspector will involve:

Carrying out Inspections within own Specialist field and be able to work within other fields of Inspection

Compiling reports of Inspections Undertaken

Carrying out routine work with no supervision and complex tasks under minimal supervision

Applying the Quality and HS&E standards to scopes of work

Carrying out Management System documentation e.g. Process Instructions, Workmanship Standards, Risk Assessments etc. applicable to your particular work scope and to obey all HS&E rules and control measures

Liaising/Interfacing with appropriate areas internally & externally to ensure work schedules are met and results are communicated to the appropriate areas

Adding value to Work Instructions and Procedures by reviewing the appropriate Quality Control function

Understanding and interpretation of measurement equipment tolerances, highlighting any non-conformances and using appropriate documentation to record

Deputising for the Team Leader as and when required

Representing the Department at Quality reviews and liaise with the customer when required

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

QC Experience

Understanding and Knowledge of measurement / SAP

Quality experience / investigation work / ability to interpret Specs & Drawings Leadership skills

Desirable:

Leadership skills

Skilled in the use of standard Microsoft packages

You will have excellent communication skills, alongside knowledge of submarines, ideally from design to build stages. Furthermore, you will also be a proactive and dynamic individual who is always looking for a credible and feasible solution to problems.
