Senior engineer- Auxiliary Systems
Would you like to join BAE Systems on one of our international programmes? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Engineer- Auxiliary Systems to join the Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) programme at our site in Scotstoun working on a range of fluid and air systems.
Canada has selected the BAE Systems Type 26 design for the Canadian Surface Combatant under a subcontract from Lockheed Martin, Canada. BAE Systems is the warship designer for 15-ship programme for the Royal Canadian Navy in an initial three-year contract. Irving Shipbuilding Inc. is the nominated shipbuilder.
As senior engineer- Auxiliary systems, you will be undertaking a defined range of engineering activities including creating Stage 1 design documents, schematics, design calculations and supplier documentation, all within the CSC programme, working with industry leading, cutting edge technology. Extensive knowledge of mechanical system design covering many systems including Sea Water, Fire Fighting, Fuel, Hotel Services and Compressed Air is key for this particular role.
Part of this role will involve interfacing with a variety of stakeholders including suppliers, operations, modelling teams and the customer, whilst continually maintaining quality and service requirements. Your main responsibilities as a senior engineer will involve:
Creation of technical specifications and design calculations
Management of specific systems (Design Lead)
Supporting Procurement pack creation and supplier engagements
Change management within of CSC piping systems
Communicating with other supplier representatives and internal teams to discuss technical issues & problems
Design documentation management and refresh
Fluidflow Model creation
Your skills and qualifications:
Essential:
Extensive knowledge of mechanical system design covering many systems including Sea Water, Fire Fighting, Fuel, Hotel Services and Compressed Air
Experience in Supplier management
Experience of system lifecycle including design, set to work, commissioning and acceptance
Extensive experience and knowledge of valve, pump and ancillary equipment selection
Must be able to write technical specifications
Desirable:
Should hold relevant degree in mechanical engineering / similar
Ideally working towards Ieng / Ceng within relevant institute
