Would you like to play a key role in delivering Submarines programmes for the UK Royal Navy? Are you looking to work with and develop skills within Electrical Generators/High Voltage Switchgear/Power System Protection/Power Electronics? We currently have vacancies for Engineers - Power Engineering at our site in Barrow-in-Furness. This may also be suitable for entry level graduates.

As an Engineer - Power Engineering, you will be supporting our ongoing Submarine programmes throughout the design phases of the engineering lifecycle, ensuring that we deliver an effective Royal Navy capability and a platform that ensures the safety of its crew.

Your main responsibilities as an Engineer - Power Engineering will involve:

Undertaking functional design, providing specialist advice and producing evidence in support of legislative, safety and technical requirements

Liaising with internal and external customers as part of a technical team

Articulating and presenting technical arguments, clearly, logically and simply

Exercising professional engineering judgement, initiative and skill in discharging allocated tasks in a positive manner within required constraints

Your skills and qualifications as an Engineer - Power Engineering:

Essential:

Degree or equivalent qualification or experience in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)

Desirable:

Experience in modelling and analysis using e.g. Matlab and Simulink

You will be self-motivated and have the ability to work unsupervised and still meet tight deadlines. At the same time, you will have excellent communication skills and be able to work collaboratively with the wider team when required. The ability to proactively problem-solve is key to the success of this role.

Maritime - Submarines

Our Submarines business has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century.
