Senior Product Safety Engineer

Would you like to work on an exciting role where you will be part of a team expected to develop, implement and subsequently deliver the Support safety programme for the Typhoon aircraft? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Product Safety Engineer working on the Typhoon Support contracts at our site in Warton.

As a Senior Product Safety Engineer, you will be working with key stakeholders including the safety leads and qualification & certification teams from each of the services across the Typhoon support organisation to develop and deliver a safe integrated support product to our Customers. You will be responsible for the through life support safety management activity.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to work in a highly dynamic fast paced environment. You will also get the opportunity to work across the entire breadth of the Typhoon Support organisation to develop and nurture networks.

Your main responsibilities as an Engineering Manager will involve:

Provide guidance and direction to the Technical Managers on design safety matters

Identify the design safety requirements for the various Support programmes

Produce safety deliverables in accordance with the Typhoon Support Safety Management Plan, such as Design Safety Assessments, Safety Statements, Hazard Statements and other documents as required in the Safety Management Plan

Liaison with Customers and Suppliers to support the development of a safety culture and safety strategy across Support Services support solutions

Developing integrated Safety approach using techniques such PHI/PHA, GSN, SSAR for the Typhoon Support Products and Services

Providing guidance to projects and suppliers to develop their safety deliverables both for the Typhoon fleet and beyond

Produce the necessary design safety processes as required

Develop knowledge, skills and experience on Support Safety systems

Your skills and qualifications:

Engineering experience, with some exposure to product safety within engineering such as safety justifications, Safety Management Plans or safety hazard logs

A degree in a STEM subject or equivalent relevant experience

Experience of Product Safety within Aerospace would be highly desirable however adjacent industries will also be considered

You will have a relevant engineering technical background

You will be knowledgeable on a range of safety system processes

You will be a self-starter who can work well alone and as part of a team with strong communication skills.
