Would you like to play a key role in an ambitious team being established to ensure the effective, efficient and sustainable application of Systems Engineering to Submarines? We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Engineering Manager - Systems Engineering to be based at either Barrow-in-Furness/Frimley/Bristol.

As a Principal Engineering Manager - Systems Engineering, you will be responsible for leading the development of the Systems Engineering and Model Based Systems Engineering strategies in Submarines, ensuring their effective deployment across the business.

This highly visible role will provide you with the unique opportunity to help transform our approach to Systems Engineering across the business and to be involved in one of the most innovative, complex and challenging products in the UK.

Your main responsibilities as a Principal Engineering Manager - Systems Engineering will involve:

Leading the development and deployment of advanced Systems Engineering practices across the Submarines business

Exploiting the application of Model Based Systems Engineering (MBSE) within complex systems design; leading the deployment of MBSE within the overall design methodology for future submarines

Working with the wider engineering function, providing Systems Engineering's input to the function's integrated engineering framework, policy, strategy and plans delivering such inputs in accordance with the corporate, business, programmes and project needs

Ensuring the timely provision of enduring systems engineering capabilities including processes, toolsets, specialist facilities and technologies for the domain group and associated disciplines

Analysing and understanding the health of Systems Engineering across Submarines; developing strategic actions and mitigations to address risks, opportunities and managing dependencies in conjunction with Subject Matter Experts and the wider Engineering Function

Acting as the main point of contact on all resourcing and recruitment matters for systems engineering. Understanding the multiple programme demands to ensure a timely integrated supply solution as part of the overall engineering supply solution that optimises the use of such resources

Agreeing, optimising and where necessary prioritising systems engineering SQEP resources to meet the programmes needs and the career development of individuals

Your skills and qualifications as a Principal Engineering Manager - Systems Engineering:

Essential:

Degree or equivalent qualification or experience in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM)

Strong understanding and knowledge across the Systems Engineering lifecycle and experience of Systems Engineering applied to complex products

Knowledge of best practice methods and tools, including MBSE

Professional Registration (CEng) or equivalent certification or working towards (eg INCOSE CSEP)

Desirable:

Background in Defence/Maritime

Leadership experience

Experience in Project Management
