Senior Engineer - Acoustic & Non-Acoustic Signatures
We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Engineer - Acoustic & Non-Acoustic Signatures to join the Canadian Surface Combatant Programme at our site in either Scotstoun, Filton or Portsmouth.
As a Senior Engineer - Acoustic & Non-Acoustic Signatures, you will be responsible for the delivery of both acoustic and non-acoustic signature modelling and verification tasks, delivering against the Canadian Surface Combatant design requirements. The role will provide you with exposure to the design, build and test phases across the whole ship, whilst working on emerging technologies and providing innovative engineering solutions.
As part of the largest Global Combat Systems programme, this is a truly unique opportunity to contribute to an international programme in complex warship design and with an expanding programme, we can offer many exciting long-term opportunities either within the immediate team or the wider business.
Your main responsibilities as a Senior Engineer - Acoustic & Non-Acoustic Signatures will involve:
Co-ordinating own activities, including delivery of assessment and guidance of equipment, systems, ship integration and implementation to control the platform's signatures
Maintaining Signatures predictions in line with the project design requirements; assisting with the mitigation of non-compliances and risks, working across project disciplines to achieve resolution
Ensuring that the models use an adequate representation of the ship and its environment for the signatures under examination
Progressive refinement of signature models and analysis as maturity of data increases
Providing design and Acoustics, Noise and Vibration guidance to suppliers in support of their aim to achieve qualification
Providing Acoustics, Noise and Vibration engineering design support and assessment to the spatial and structural integration of equipment and distributed systems throughout the ship
Supporting and undertaking Acoustics, Noise and Vibration or analysis activities, as required to achieve qualification of equipment and equipment integration to the platform. This includes guidance both internal to the project and to suppliers
Your skills and qualifications as a Senior Engineer - Acoustic & Non-Acoustic Signatures:
Degree or equivalent qualification in STEM subject (Engineering/Mathematics/Science/Computer Science) or extensive experience in the area of Acoustic design and management
Technical knowledge of platform design and integration, with particular reference to signature reduction and control techniques
Technical knowledge of simulation & modelling techniques
Willingness to travel - nationally and internationally
Knowledge of Radar Cross Section (RCS) and InfraRed (IR) modelling including RCS and IR generation mechanisms and reduction techniques
Background in Maritime/Defence
Chartership/willingness to achieve
