Senior Combat Systems Engineer - Gunnery

Would you like to be involved in the design of key systems on the next generation anti surface warfare frigate? We currently have a vacancy for a Senior Combat Systems Engineer - Gunnery at our site in either Scotstoun, Filton or Portsmouth.

As a Senior Combat Systems Engineer - Gunnery, you will contribute to the engineering design (Physical Integration) of the Canadian Surface Combatant (CSC) Global Combat Ship Gunnery Systems including Main Calibre Gun, Ammunition Handling Systems, Small Calibre Guns, Force Protection Gunnery Systems and Magazines/Stowages. You will also be involved in developing effective partnerships with a broad range of stakeholders including customers, suppliers and other internal teams.

This is a truly unique opportunity to contribute to an international programme in complex warship design and with an expanding programme, we can offer many exciting long-term opportunities within Combat Systems or the wider business.

Your main responsibilities as a Senior Combat Systems Engineer - Gunnery will involve:

Liaising with other Combat System leads, and the CSC Combat System (CS) Technical Authority to ensure coherency across the Combat System and incorporation of whole ship and Gunnery system requirements

Providing technical input into the detailed ship build design to ensure that Gunnery/Magazine compartment layouts are in line with design intent

Ensuring that design rules for physical integration of all Gunnery Systems, Magazines and Stowage's within CSC are adhered to, providing technical input to the CS Technical Authority when required

Engaging with the platform system teams to ensure that platform system interfaces are captured fully and agreed with the customer

Providing technical input to engineering change boards with respect to impact of change from T26 to CSC, with regards to the CSC Gunnery Systems and Magazines physical integration

Acting as the Gunnery System and Weapons, Ordnance, Munitions and Explosives (WOME) Subject Matter Expert in relation to delivery of the Gunnery System and Magazine design, ensuring compliance with Def-Stan 00-101 when implementing Engineering Change proposals

Your skills and qualifications as a Senior Combat Systems Engineer - Gunnery:

Essential:

Degree level qualification or equivalent qualification or experience in relevant STEM subject (Engineering/ Physics/ Maths/ Science)

Understanding of System Engineering design Lifecycle

Desirable:

Experience in a Naval/Maritime environment

Understanding of WOME Certification requirements and adherence to Def-Stan 00-101

Member of a Professional Organisation/working towards an I.Eng or C.Eng status
