Principal Quality Engineer - Strategic Manufacturing

Would you like to play a key role based in the Strategic Manufacturing Quality team? We are responsible for ensuring the delivery of quality inputs into the Jig and Tool Organisation across the Submarines Programme. We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Quality Engineer - Strategic Manufacturing at our site in Barrow-in-Furness.

As a Principal Quality Engineer, you will be responsible for technical support within your discipline and have an input in the development of the jig & tool team to achieve business goals. You will be a representative of the quality function at all levels of management and take personal responsibility for the delivery of the quality elements of the programme in the jig and tool organization.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to steer and develop the team and you will have the opportunity to work in a growing functional area with exposure to different areas of the business.

Your main responsibilities as a Principal Quality Engineer - Strategic Manufacturing will involve:

Reviewing and approving Inspection & Test Plans for each Jig/Tool including appropriate hold points

Liaising with P.E.D. and Dimensional Management to understand and define the inspection requirements

Managing and responding to Quality deliverables within Teamcenter

Responsible for the governance processes supporting the management of quality aspects of Jigs and Tools including process audits

Supporting supplier audits to assure adherence to BS EN 1090

Providing support to contract reviews/kick off meetings with suppliers

Managing functional documentation

Raising of non-conformances & corrective actions as required using SAP

Managing corrective actions

Delivering high quality technical reports as appropriate

Your skills and qualifications as a Principal Quality Engineer - Strategic Manufacturing:

Essential Skills:

Good understanding of Jig or Steelwork Manufacturing

Manufacturing Engineering or Fabrication e.g. NDE or Welding Processes

Knowledge of Quality and its processes of how it operates

Desirable Skills:

Strong stakeholder management skills

Operating and delivering to Senior and Executive stakeholders

Knowledge of Project Management

Knowledge of British Standards BSEN1090
