Engineer - Mechanical

Would you like to be part of the Mechanical discipline department that looks after the Site and Projects that is delivering the major projects of new builds and modifications on site? We currently have a vacancy for an Engineer - Mechanical at our site in Barrow in Furness.

As an Engineer - Mechanical, you will be part of the Site Engineering Technical Authority team whose primary role is to provide engineering (mechanical) support and guidance to Engineering Authorities, Projects and Services teams for Site and Facilities. The main aim is to afford assurance that engineering designs for site and facilities equipment and installations, comply with relevant standards, statutory regulations and safety requirements. You will be giving technical advice, identification of technical requirements, providing technical solutions, review of designs, writing technical reports, conducting investigations and carrying out audits of installations/documentation.

This role will provide you with an opportunity to work on a variety of projects which will involve engaging with stakeholders, departments and external contractors.

Your main responsibilities as an Engineer - Mechanical are as follows:

Provide support to ensure that all new or modified assets are compliant with relevant current standards for intended use and meet with stakeholder requirements.

Provide support to ensure that nuclear related assets on the Barrow Licensed Site are justified to meet the requirements of the Nuclear Site Licence.

Establishing and agreeing stakeholder requirements (and if applicable Nuclear Safety Functional Requirements) for facilities and equipment

Production of Reports, Technical Specifications and Statement of Requirements documents

Support with the Provision of advice to other disciplines, maintainers and site committees on technical issues and requirements to meet nuclear, HS&E and other relevant legislation

Supporting with the Review of design proposals for both new assets and for major modifications

Assisting in the project management of installations and commissioning of new and modified assets where discipline knowledge is required

Production of special operating procedures and documentation

Support with the Amending of design substantiation reports and producing safety justification documentation to support the safety case for Nuclear Related site facilities and equipment and obtaining authorisation through due process

Supporting with surveys of existing assets eg HVAC systems

Managing own ongoing development through CPD Training events,

Provision of weekly reports to establish current & ongoing activity

Your skills and qualifications:

Qualification in Mechanical engineering/Building Services to at least HNC Level

Experience in a Mechanical/Building services Engineering role

Demonstrable experience of applying engineering standards within An industrial environment.

Experience in building credible professional relationships with internal & external stakeholders

Experience in writing Technical reports
