A fantastic opportunity has arisen for a number of Cloud Solutions Architects in Northrop Grumman’s National Security Solutions group.

Do you want to use your practical experience and expertise to develop high quality, cloud-native solutions to challenging data acquisition, processing and analysis?

We are seeking candidates to assist customers in assessing and re-architecting legacy applications and processing systems to be rehosted or completely re-imagined on commercial cloud environments. Whilst maintaining current knowledge of the evolving capabilities and services offered by the main cloud providers (AWS, Microsoft Azure, Google) and advise NG and customer development teams on their appropriate use.

The successful candidate will be required to hold current UK high level security clearance.

As well as designing for security, Information Assurance and legal / policy compliance, we actively assess products and services, identifying vulnerabilities and weaknesses that could be exploited by cyber attackers, and we create and run exercises to pit cyber security specialists against secure systems and each other.

How you will make a difference

For us, innovation is key and we have immediate opportunities for a talented Cloud Solutions Architect to join our team to help us develop high quality, cloud-native solutions to challenging data acquisition, processing and analysis challenges from our customers and our own research and development activities.

You will be helping us to solve our customer’s problems within an agile team.

As a Cloud Solutions Architect you will have a number of key responsibilities, these are primarily around assisting customers in assessing and re-architecting legacy applications and processing systems to be rehosted or completely reimagined on commercial cloud environments

Key criteria required...

  • Good understanding of IaaS, PaaS, FaaS, SaaS platforms and their strengths and weaknesses

  • Well versed in designing end-to-end data processing systems in cloud environments

  • Experience with design of service and micro-service architectures (Low Code)

  • Trained and certified in one or both of AWS and Azure solution architecture

  • Strong understanding of cost models for cloud service use - design for cost efficiency

  • Experience of transforming / re-architecting legacy applications for cloud platforms

  • Experience of Linux server integration with Active Directory

  • Experience of building secure systems using corporate PKI solutions

  • Knowledge of core Networking Principals

  • Experience of technical leadership or team management

  • Familiar with range of services offered by AWS / Azure platforms, maintaining current knowledge

  • Experience of design for resilience / high availability

  • Experience of security architecture: expertise in / understanding of NCSC, ISO 27001, NIST 800-53/171 controls

    • Design for data security

    • Design for legal and policy compliance

    • Design for data lifecycle management

  • Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code (e.g. Terraform) deployment techniques

  • Familiarity with containerisation concepts (e.g. Docker)
