Principal Engineer - Product Verification

Would you like to play a key role in the delivery on the dreadnaught programme for submarines programmes? We currently have a vacancy for a Principal Engineer - Product Verification at our site in Barrow-in-Furness.

As a Principal Engineer - Product Verification, you will primarily be responsible for ensuring product design intent and safety requirements are met across the submarine. You will also act as a subject matter expert (SME) for whole boat product verification, which will entail conducting activities around ships structures.

This role will provide you with the opportunity to be involved with one of the UK's most complex, cutting edge projects, with the chance to work across the whole boat. You will also gain exposure to an extensive range of stakeholder groups and industrial partners.

Your main responsibilities as a Principal Engineer - Product Verification will involve:

 

Substantiating that the product is safe at various stages during procurement and build, including commissioning and delivery

Ensuring build and design intent conformity through verification activities, at whole boat level

Attending inspection events and participating in test groups with commissioning ensuring accountability

Assisting in the conduct of design and safety classification configuration checks

Assisting in setting up product verification plans, including procurement related activities

Supporting activities requiring input and support as part of configuration checks

Your skills and qualifications:

Essential:

Degree qualified in STEM related discipline or HND with demonstrable experience within complex

 

Demonstrable and applied experience in Product Verification or Quality Assurance activities and build assurance

Technical experience in safety assessments of design, evidence capture and risk analysis.

Desirable:

Experience conducting technical investigations or audits would be beneficial
