The Opportunity

An opportunity has arisen for an experienced Customs Manager in either Stevenage or Bolton to assist with a new and exciting project. The primary purpose of the role is to establish and oversee the customs integration process in house including growing a team of people.

  • Significant experience in technical and practical aspects of Customs
  • Knowledge of Customs systems
  • Experience in leading a customs team
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)
  • Ability to establish, manage and support a small team of people
  • Ability to foster and maintain excellent collaborative working relationships
  • Ability to work within a complex multiple stakeholder environment
  • Ability to work to strict and/or conflicting deadlines
  • Ability to produce professional and concise documentation
  • Lead, develop and motivate assigned resources to ensure they are aware of and capable of delivering their accountabilities and to ensure the maintenance of an effective, collaborative and supportive working climate.

The Role
  • Responsible for the Company’s international customs operations and for implementing the processes, policies and procedures that ensure customs and trade compliance for all imports and exports.
  • To manage supplier relationships with Freight forwarders, customs brokers and service providers in relation to customs related topics.
  • To facilitate the ongoing achievement of business, financial and customer service metrics and relative KPI’s
  • You will be required to capture and manage Customs needs by:-
    • Bring all customs activities in-house
    • Manage, lead and grow an internal MBDA Customs team
    • Implementing any systems and process changes required
    • Ensure MBDA’s compliance with all HMRC Customs requirements
    • Build and maintain a strong relationship with HMRC and internal stakeholders
