Head of Manufacturing Prototype & Development Facility

The Opportunity

An exciting opportunity has arisen within the UK Manufacturing Function, for an experienced Operations Manager, based at our Manufacturing Prototyping and Development Facility (MPDF) in Stevenage. As a senior member of the UK Manufacturing Function, you will be responsible for all deliverables from Manufacturing from the Stevenage facility and management of the facility. There is also a significant transformation programme to lead as we prepare development manufacturing for the future.
 
What are we looking for?

• Highly experienced Operations Manager with experience of mechanical assembly and electronics manufacturing
• Demonstrated business acumen in operations management, with a solid understanding of modern manufacturing techniques
• Experienced Financial and Budgetary Control management
• Experience in industry standard RCCA methodologies (eg 8D; six sigma)
• Ideally will have Degree/Masters in Engineering or Manufacturing
• Effective, highly developed communication skills: written, verbal and presentation
• Ability to liaise and collaborate with wider MBDA with other functions and organisations
• Influencing skills to help UK Manufacturing drive process changes and product changes to achieve world class manufacturing status
• Strong leadership skills are required to support the cultural change being driven across the Function
• Resilience and strong character to hold other Groups accountable for their deliverables into Manufacturing
• As a senior manager within the UK Manufacturing Function, you will be expected to take a proactive role in further developing and supporting the UK Manufacturing Strategy and implementing this within MPDF

The Role

The role is to lead and manage the Manufacturing Prototyping and Development Facility and be responsible for both operational excellence and delivery from the facility and team. The team deliver hardware across prime and test equipment and a diverse set of technologies across numerous projects and to a wide variety of customers.
