Project Leader - Designer Management- Hull & Outfit

Would you like to work for a Business that has been safely delivering world class submarines to the UK Royal Navy for more than a century? We currently have a vacancy for a Project Leader - Designer Management- Hull & Outfit at our site in Barrow.

As a Project Leader - Designer Management- Hull & Outfit, you will be responsible for producing and overseeing the production of Engineering solutions in the form of models, drawings and other technical outputs in accordance with prescribed working standards and practices, and to carry out any special duties as directed.

This role will provide you with the opportunity of working alongside the most advanced tools in the industry. This role is unique within Engineering in that it is the first step into a management career and as such retains various duties whilst introducing management duties.

Your main responsibilities as a Project Leader - Designer Management- Hull & Outfit will involve:

Leading the Penetrations & Eyeplates team
Managing the output management schedule / work to list deliverables (Product and Output)
Managing programme updates and trade-offs which will include potential re-planning through work with stakeholders which could include Rolls Royce, Anglicisation activities, MoD and General Dynamics Electric Boat (GDEB)
Overseeing the design & delivery of stage 2 & 3 design models drawings
Leading and attending meetings at various levels of the business to drive progression in problem areas
Managing design resource, Enterprise Change Request's, Production Queries, Engineering Queries and activity enablement
Identify process improvement opportunities
Producing weekly reports with progression updates & performance reports to ensure the team is working to target along with assisting with budget planning & forecasts
Managing the day to day activities of the team and supporting the designers when using various programs i.e. teamcenter, FORAN, and SAP
Training & people development for team members & carrying out personal development plan's & personal development records management
Deputising for Engineering Managers where necessary

Your skills and qualifications as a Project Leader - Designer Management- Hull & Outfit:

Hull & Outfit Designer or Engineering experience is essential
CAD & Technical background
Experience of current toolset such as Product Lifecycle Management (PLM) Such as Team Centre or Windchill
Microsoft Power point experience
Relationship building with Managers & outside stakeholders
Working with design stakeholders within a Defence programme

You will have good communication skills and be able to build relationships with key stakeholders. You have excellent organisational skills and be able to multitask effectively. You will have good problem-solving skills and an understanding of CAD Modelling techniques (2D & 3D).
