Industrial Engineering Governance Team Leader
Would you like to be part of key delivery programmes within our Air Sector portfolio dealing with new development and manufacturing technology programmes for the largest defence programme in the world with the Typhoon and F-35? We currently have a vacancy for an Industrial Engineering Governance Team Leader at our site in Samlesbury.
As an Industrial Engineering Governance Team Leader, you will be responsible for managing a small team of functional Industrial Engineers, tasked with discharging critical project assessments and simulations. You will also act as the sector specialist in the industrial engineering discipline, providing strategic direction to the processes, toolset and people across the new and existing programmes. This will include incorporation of best practice, development of technology, facilities and capability into existing and new work centres, process and people development.
This role will provide you with an opportunity to work with the industrial engineers across the Air Function, other skill stream leads, senior management across all main platforms in the Air business. You will also be supported in your professional development such as chartership i.e. IMechE, IET, IMS etc.
Your main responsibilities as an Industrial Engineering Governance Team Leader will involve:
Managing a core team of industrial engineers in support of new and existing programmes
Providing functional governance across the industrial engineering discipline ensuring our processes are robust and fit for purpose
Review compliance returns from the programmes and carry out process confirmations
Ensure that we have competent engineers deployed into the line of business
Validate that processes and documentation are topical and are fit for purpose
Understand the Industrial Engineering sub discipline resource pool in terms of skills, competency and demographics
Hold regular discipline reviews, look to identify and exploit external industry best practice
Review existing toolset capabilities and identify future toolset requirements
Support the generation of bids and trade studies
Support & Sustain Manufacturing Discrete Event Simulation using Simul8
Undertaking people management activities for the Core Industrial Engineering Team
Managing the team cost base requirements and supporting the Manufacturing Engineering Function financial objectives
Managing the training for all team members including mandatory requirements as well as technical development
Your skills and qualifications as an Industrial Engineering Governance Team Leader:
Significant team leadership experience in Industrial Engineering or Manufacturing Engineering roles
Experience in running manufacturing engineering teams as well as a track record of delivering successful capability improvement projects
Experience of Analytical Estimating, analysing an activity and breaking it down into elements and provide estimates of labour and/or process times for the activity
Experience in Work Measurement, both conventional and synthetic time systems. Techniques include conventional stopwatch or time board studies, synthetic time systems such as SAPCAMS, MTM, PMTS; standard data derived from specific time data.
Method Studies aimed at improving productivity of mainly repetitive manual activities
HNC qualified or equivalent qualification/experience in Manufacturing Engineering or Industrial Engineering
